Ideal candidates will be board certified in general and colorectal surgery with a desire to engage in the academic mission of the Department of Surgery through excellence in clinical care, education, and innovation.
Our Clinical Services
Advanced minimally invasive and robotic experience is highly valued and well supported through our modern OR facilities. Our general surgeons serve patients at the main University Hospital, Women's Hospital, Children's Hospital, and Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. The Ellis Fischel Cancer Center serves as the region’s major cancer center with state-of-the-art multidisciplinary cancer care at the cornerstone of its approach.
Our Training Programs
The Department of Surgery has three surgical residency programs, including a long-standing ACGME-accredited General Surgery Residency Program. We also offer three surgical fellowship programs, including Surgical Critical Care and Bariatric Surgery Fellowships. Candidates who have demonstrated qualifications teaching, with a strong emphasis on teaching surgical residents and fellows and on maintaining a high-quality residency training program are desired.
Research Opportunities
Looking to the future, we are making a huge investment in medical research. The NextGen Precision Health Institute is a $220 million, 265,000-square-foot research facility that is a hub where scientists and clinicians collaborate with experts in other disciplines. The facility is equipped for every step of the translational research process and houses a MAGNETOM Terra 7 Tesla (7T) MRI scanner, the first of its kind in Missouri.
