Job Description
The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) is seeking a BC/BE plastic surgeon with fellowship training in hand surgery to join the faculty as Assistant or Associate Professor.
The ideal applicant will have a primary interest in hand and upper extremity surgery and a capability in general plastic surgery. UMMC Plastic Surgery is comprised of board-certified plastic surgeons practicing the full breadth and depth of the specialty. We are the largest health system and the only academic medical center in the state, affording our group a very high-volume practice including both trauma and elective cases in children and adults. We currently train two integrated plastic surgery residents per year as well as two hand surgery fellows.
The surgeon taking this position would also be supported by the recently named Jabaley-Songcharoen Hand, Upper Extremity and Nerve Center, a multidisciplinary collaborative effort between plastic hand surgeons and orthopaedic hand surgeons unifying and enhancing hand surgery care delivery at our institution. The Hand Center surgeons will likewise staff a core service line at the soon to be opened Colony Park North Ambulatory Surgery Center.
The Hand Center trains two ACGME-approved hand fellows every year. Affiliation with the Hand Center will afford the new faculty recruit significant additional resources for building and growing a successful practice. Leadership and outreach opportunities are abundant and tailored to specific surgeon interests. Skill and focus in complex peripheral nerve, brachial plexus, and reconstructive microsurgery are valuable but not a requirement to apply.
Compensation is commensurate with level of training and experience. The University of Mississippi Medical Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer, M/F/D/V.
Interviews will be made available on-site at upcoming regional and national plastic surgery and hand surgery meetings for interested applicants.
