The Division of General Surgery, Trauma, and Surgical Critical Care, at the Yale School of Medicine, in conjunction with the Yale-New Haven Health System, is seeking an acute care surgeon to join our faculty and provide services at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, CT. The successful candidate would also join the Section of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, Acute Care Surgery and Burn at Bridgeport Hospital. The position is at the Assistant or Associate Professor level commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Bridgeport Hospital is a 550-bed acute care hospital across two campuses (100 beds at the Milford campus in Milford, CT and 50 beds on the Bridgeport campus licensed under Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital) Bridgeport hospital serves Bridgeport, CT and surrounding Fairfield and New Haven counties. Bridgeport hospital is an ACS verified level II trauma center admitting approximately 1400 trauma patients annually. The Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital is Connecticut’s only burn center. The Section of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, Burn and Acute Care Surgery provides all acute care surgical coverage for both campuses of the hospital. The section staffs the 16 bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit and 20 bed step down unit.
Qualified candidates will be Board Eligible or Board Certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. The successful candidate will join ten other surgeons at Bridgeport Hospital. All are board certified in both general surgery and surgical critical care and provide coverage for all acute care surgical needs including trauma care, emergency general surgery, surgical critical care and the immediate resuscitative needs of burn patients. Candidates will need excellent clinical and interpersonal skills and be committed to making essential contributions in the clinical fields of General Surgery, Trauma, and Surgical Critical Care.
