Company History

James L. Pertsch, M.D. completed University of Md. Medical School, completed a general surgery residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital the Plastic Surgery at Harvard/Brigham and Womens/Childrens Hospitals in 1988.
Established July 1988 initially in Burlingame, Ca. the general plastic surgery practice grew to focus on hand and wrist surgery (except distal radius).

In December 1993 a sublet office operating room allowed successful experimentation with facility reimbursement. In July 1997 the ABJ Surgery Center, Inc. was opened in San Mateo, Ca. for exclusive use by the practice. Premier Fluoroscan, Stryker TPS, arthroscopy tower, Rayhack ulnar osteotomy and other plate and screw sets have been added to allow virtually all surgeries to be performed at the Medicare Certified, AAAHC accredited 1 room OR, 3 bed recovery room facility.

A branch office serving only hand and wrist patients was opened in Mountain View (near San Jose) November 2002.

A nurse practitioner started part-time January 2006 and a physician assistant (formerly a hand therapist) is due to start February 2007.

An orthopedic hand fellowship trained surgeon would be an ideal candidate to better manage the current patient population and continue expansion of services.
